BETTER BRAND PHOTOS

STORYTELLING

I am obsessed with storytelling. Media should be message forward, communicating a theme, a story, furthering an understanding or asking a question. My work tends to focus on process, on the in between, and on minute details rather than trends and social media benchmarks. And, although my identity is necessarily tied up with what I create, I work hard to remove ego from my work and make photographs and videos that pique curiosity, engage interest and inspire.

SLOW IS SMOOTH

Smooth is fast.

By obsessing over the details of your brand/story/product - and following ideas that are exciting to us, we can create imagery that means something. This meaning we create isn’t just for us - but when a potential client makes an emotional connection with your brand they are more likely to become an active member of your community and a customer.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

My work is not only different from an intellectual perspective, but a practical one too: equipment. For the majority of my work I use vintage film cameras, and these cameras offer three distinct benefits.

First, the aesthetic.

You may know it, and plenty of people try to duplicate it with digital files, but the reality is that a proper film look cannot be faked. Capturing real light on film is unmatched.

Second, the shooting experience yields better results.

Slowing down while making a photograph is an advantage. Each frame is precious, and you have to work for it. This extra care leads to a better technical photograph: better composition, more accurate metering, tighter focus, better exposure and better color. It also does something else. It slows down the set, it puts people at ease, helps build rapport with talent and it allows for better collaboration.

Third, film is fucking magic.

I can’t prove this, and certainly don’t have the words to describe it - but film touches a nerve. Maybe it is the process, or the nostalgia, or something else entirely. Regardless, there is an indescribable magic to a frame caught on film.

YOUR BENEFIT

So how does any of this benefit you and your brand?

First, quality. If you are concerned with the quality of your products, you should similarly be concerned with the quality of your media.

Second, reliability. It is one thing to take a good photograph once, but a very different one to deliver again and again.

Third, ease. Working with me is easy. I communicate well and often. I am flexible and love to collaborate. And I will take care of all the details necessary for success. Ideating, location scouting, hiring and styling, shoot organization, communication, and of course shooting and editing.

Fourth, fun. Creating for your brand should be fun. Most of us are attracted to entrepreneurship because it is a creative outlet - so lets flex that muscle.
